• Homeschool Days: The First Thanksgiving – 11/8 10 AM

    $3.00$8.00

Get ready to learn about the very first Thanksgiving through interactive, hands on exploration at Piney Acres Farm!! This very special event will take place on Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November 9th. Price is $8/child (ages 3 & up), $5/walking-2 years, infants are free. Parent pricing is as follows: $5/parent with 1 child, $4/parent with 2-3 children, $3/parent with 4-5 children, FREE/parent with 6 or more children.

We will take a guided hayride through the tree fields and over to our Indian corn field & pie pumpkin patch, where kiddos will pick their very own pie pumpkin or gourd AND Indian corn. History will unfold as we discuss how the first Thanksgiving came to be. We’ll learn to shuck corn, feed our barnyard babies, enjoy a couple of menu items from the first feast and talk about Thanksgiving traditions that hold true today. *Please note that our material is based off of the Smithsonian’s educational outlines. Although tour material is educational, we make sure to omit any facts, battles, etc. that might be upsetting to our younger crowds. Please contact us if you’d like further information regarding our educational material.*

Then we’ll head over to the Gem Mine and mine for different minerals that Native Americans used for survival, cooking, building and weapons. All treasure that is found will be sent home with the little ones who found it 🙂

We’ll wrap up the day with a picnic lunch (outside food & drink IS permitted for this event) as well as free play in our Play & Explore Area and Kid’s Corn Maze. There is no “end” time for this event, however the guided part of the tour will last for approximately two hours.

Seating is limited. In the event of inclement weather, rain dates will be the following Thursday and Friday (same times).

We look forward to seeing all of you for this one of a kind tour, home school farm friends!!
