• Piney Acres Farm Announces Free Summer Event Honoring Area Military and First Responders

The men and women of our military, both past and present, have always had Piney Acres Farm’s deepest gratitude. The Trees for Troops program has been a fun way to give a special thank-you annually, but this year, Piney Acres Farm is stepping it up and adding a unique summer event – Hometown Heroes of Hancock County – to not honor not only our military men and women, but also area first responders.

On Saturday June 17, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. the Piney Acres Farm team will open the farm for a free summer community party honoring past and present military and first responders. The event will include live music from local favorite Pauls Court, an inspirational guest speaker, hayrides, cow train rides, games, barnyard animals, kid’s play area, bonfires, food, prizes and more.

“The mission of this event is to recognize the individuals that keep Hancock County and our nation safe,” said Rex Zenor, owner of Piney Acres Farm. “It’s another fun way for us to give back to the community we love and recognize the everyday heroes that walk among us. It will be a very special evening on the farm.”

Entry into the Hometown Heroes of Hancock County event, live music, bonfires and kids play area is free of charge. Additionally, individuals providing proper ID showing past or present military or first responder service will receive one complimentary meal ticket for a hot dog, hamburger, cheeseburger or pulled pork meal, including chips, a drink and a s’more kit, plus a free hayride ticket. General meal tickets for the public can be purchased between $5 and $8 and includes a drink, chips and a s’more kit as well. Gem mine mining rough will be available for purchase as well as hayride tickets. The public is welcome to bring lawn chairs, coolers and side dishes to share. Bring a side dish to feed at least 15 and get a free meal ticket! Guests are encouraged to bring a letter, card, picture or care package to send to our troops.

The public is encouraged to email pineyacresfarm@yahoo.com and nominate a loved ones as the Hometown Hero of the year. Just advise of their name, where they hail from, where they currently serve and an example of a time when they were extraordinary in their service to their country, town or city. Guests are encouraged to bring a letter, card, picture or care package to send to our troops.
